The Overview Vibe
The fight for $100K continues, as Bitcoin reached new all-time highs this week on the back of further bullishness from Wall Street and DC. Peaking at ~$63/PH/Day, hashprice to provide oxygen to miners as BTC continues to outpace. hashrate in the short term. In those short intervals of profit, the windfalls of this industry invite all the capital bois to the yard. Hashrate weekly profile mirrored hashprice in a lagged fashion (see metric graphs below). A surface-level interpretation of the data could point to 30 EH/s (~750-780 Eh/s) of the network to be marginally economically responsive to above ~60/PH/Day.
With S.E.C. Commissioner calling it quits before he could be fired and Blackrockâs IBIT options debuting with fanfare, legacy finance continues to lean into Bitcoin. MicroStrategy BALLED OUT with their 0% 3B convertible note announcement to buy more Bitcoin. The nominated Sectrarcy of Commerce and Cantor Fitzgerald boss Howard Lutnick negotiated a 5% stake for his firm in Tether, who they already hold treasuries for. It is rumored that Tether will be their financing partner for Cantorâs bitcoin-backed loan product launching next year.
As Bitcoin continues to PUMP IT UP, mining PubCos joins MicroStrategy in opening up the debt markets. MARA completed an oversubscribed $1B convertible note offering to buy more Bitcoin and pay off existing debt notes. Bitdeer also completed a large convertible note offering of $360 M to pay off previous notes and data-center expansion. In the world of ASIC financing, Bitmine leveraged Luxorâs derivative products to lock down 3000 machines. Is ASIC financing back in force?
Shovels continue to break ground as Mullet-miner leader Core Scientific announced a 100 MW HPC data center in Muskogee, Oklahoma, and extended their lease expansion at their HPC Denton facility. Canaan raised $30M to expand prop mining in Texas and Pennsylvania, and Compass Mining entered Iowa with a self-owned 30 MW site. Both the private and public markets are warming up to kick off another wave of development. Will we hit another infrastructure pinch like we did last time, or will the general need for electrical infra and rackspace support the spike in demand?
The legal dramas from this and the last cycle continue to simmer. BIT Mining settled with the DOJ for bribing Japanese officials in their bid to buy casinos. Not only does that have nothing to do with Bitcoin mining, but they didnât even win the bid, lol. 1) What? As a follow-up from the Swan/Tether mining fallout from earlier this year, Swan CEO Cory Klippsten has now sued his former law firm Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP in a new wave of desperate efforts to get something from somewhere.
As we head into gobble week, I hope everyone is staying hydrated, calling your mom/friends to make sure you know when to show up on Thursday, and are ready for 80 hours of football lol. Remember the Houston Bitcoin Meet-up is on Monday, November 25th! Take your family or friends if they are in town!
