Dell and Nutanix have teamed to offer customers more enterprise storage choices in Nutanix private cloud environments. Dell’s PowerStore enterprise all-flash storage system now supports Nutanix Cloud Platform 7.6, with validated deployment and managed through Dell Private Cloud, the vendors announced.
“This collaboration makes PowerStore the second Dell storage platform to integrate with Nutanix, following PowerFlex, which became the first external storage supported and integrated with Nutanix Cloud Platform,” wrote Ketan Shah, vice president of products at Nutanix, and Drew Schulke, vice president at Dell, in a blog post. “Dell now offers the broadest infrastructure portfolio available for Nutanix environments. Dell Private Cloud provides the foundation with automated lifecycle management and Dell system-level hardware support, giving organizations a fully validated path to running Nutanix with enterprise-grade external storage.”
The two vendors have engineered an integration that preserves independent compute and storage scalability, Shah and Schulke wrote: “Dell Private Cloud orchestrates compute and storage scaling on separate tracks based on actual workload demand. PowerStore’s Dynamic Resiliency Engine enables granular storage scaling one drive at a time.” Always-on intelligent deduplication and compression deliver a 6:1 data reduction, consolidating more workloads while lowering storage costs, they stated.
